Double Olympic Gold medallist Laura Trott is a professional cyclist, championing on both the track and road. Holding the National Road title, she was also the first British woman to win two Gold medals – both on home turf at London 2012.
Laura was born a month prematurely in Essex with a collapsed lung and was later diagnosed with asthma. She began cycling recreationally with her mother, it was here her talent was noticed and she began to be serious about the sport.
As a junior, Laura won the Junior World Championship title in the Omnium (a multiple race event in track cycling). She also began to dominate the National titles in track, road and Time Trial. Her talent recognizable, Laura began to be selected by British Cycling to compete at elite level in the 2010 European track championships. She was also the youngest member of the Commonwealth Games squad, but it wasn’t until 2011 that she had her debut on the Senior World Championships stage. Here Laura won Gold alongside Wendy Houvenaghel and Dani King in the Women’s Team Pursuit.
Laura is now in the strongest possible position entering 2015/16. She is the reigning Olympic Champion in both events, as well as World Champion in the team pursuit. The focused aim is to continue to dominate on both track and road with her new team Matrix Fitness and bring Gold home for Great Britain.
